Father who stabbed son three times jailed
Nottinghamshire PoliceA father who stabbed his son three times - damaging his heart - has been jailed for 15 years.
Anthony Kimberely, 59, attacked his 39-year-old son during an argument at an address in Garabaldi Road, Forest Town, Nottinghamshire, on 2 August last year, police said.
In January he was cleared by a jury at Nottingham Crown Court of attempted murder but found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Appearing at the same venue on Friday, he was jailed for 15 years and given a restraining order forbidding any further contact with the victim.
Police said the fight had started inside the house before spilling out into the garden.
The victim, who suffered wounds to his chest and arm, was found collapsed in the street a short time later.
The blow to his chest punctured the membrane around his heart, leaving him requiring treatment in intensive care, officers said.
Det Con Jemma Stuman said: "The victim in this case could easily have died as a result of this very violent assault.
"Kimberley chose to arm himself with a weapon in the moments before this incident and should count himself lucky that his actions did not prove fatal.
"As he begins a very lengthy prison sentence I hope this incident serves as a warning to others - that if you pick up a knife in anger the consequences can and will be extremely serious."
