A busy route through Derby city centre has reopened after being closed due to a "police incident".

Derbyshire Police said on social media at about 06:30 BST on Friday that St Alkmund's Way had been shut in both directions with drivers advised to find alternative routes.

The road runs between the A52 and Friar Gate.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said the road reopened just after 07:00.

No further details have been shared about the incident.
