A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape in Worcestershire.

The arrest comes after police officers found a 15-year-old girl at Battenhall Fields at about 03:30 BST on Tuesday in Worcester, following a report she was missing.

The 16-year-old boy was later arrested on suspicion of rape and remained in custody.

Det Insp Ed Jones said: "Our immediate priority has been safeguarding the girl involved and progressing our investigation, which has already led to an arrest.

"We understand this incident may cause concern for local residents.

"There will continue to be a police presence in the area today while our inquiries continue, and I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to our officers."
