Arrest made a year after man found dead on Princes Street

A 36-year-old man has been charged almost a year on from the death of another man in Edinburgh city centre.

Police Scotland said it received a report of an unresponsive man on Princes Street on the morning of 25 June last year.

But the 50-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. A tent was was erected around the body and Princes Street was closed to traffic while officers investigated.

The 36-year-old man is expected to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday in connection with the death.

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
