Work on Arras Square in Ipswich is due to start on 22 June

Work on an improvement scheme in Ipswich is due to begin this month.

Ipswich Borough Council said work on Arras Square would be carried in four phases, starting on 22 June. It is expected to be completed by Christmas.

The improvements will include new paving, a disabled access ramp, additional bins, new CCTV and lighting, new seating and replacement trees.

The council said pedestrian access to the square would be maintained throughout the work.

The scheme will also see the installation of removable demountable bollards in St Stephen's Lane and a mural celebrating the town's twinning links with Arras in France.

Council leader Neil MacDonald said: "The scheme will help transform the area into a more welcoming and pedestrian-friendly space, while celebrating Ipswich's unique heritage and connections with Arras."
