Police are investigating after a 39-year-old man died in a crash on the M5 near Halesowen

A man died when the car he was driving crashed with a lorry on the M5.

Emergency services were called shortly after 21:40 BST on Tuesday to the northbound carriageway between junctions three and four near Halesowen. The 39-year-old man died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.

The man's family were being supported, West Midlands Police said.

Their Serious Collision Investigation Unit is working to establish the circumstances of the crash. The lorry driver was helping officers with their inquiries, a spokesperson added.

The motorway was closed for several hours while investigators examined the scene and reopened at about 08:00 BST on Wednesday.

Police asked anyone with dashcam footage from around the time of the crash to come forward.
