Delayed pet cremation service to open in November

A pet cremation service at an East Yorkshire cemetery is due to launch in November after being delayed.

Construction work started at Priory Woods Cemetery in Cottingham in February this year.

The service was supposed to launch in the spring, but issues fitting the pet cremator pushed back the timetable.

A Hull City Council spokesperson said: "We experienced some unexpected issues with the installation of our new pet cremator. These have now been resolved and we now expect to open the new facility in November."

Councillor Ted Dolman previously said the service would allow pet owners to have their animals cremated locally, rather than travelling out of the area.

The council said large dogs and any other smaller pets could be accommodated.

People would be able to book appointments directly or through a veterinary practice and ashes should be returned to owners within five working days, it added.
