Child safety charity seeks volunteers for schools

A charity which works to keep children safe from abuse is seeking volunteers for its school service.

NSPCC in Jersey said it needed people to go into primary schools help them understand different forms of abuse and what to do if they had any concerns.

The Speak Out, Stay Safe programme includes a pre-prepared and age-appropriate assembly presentation followed by workshops which delivered by volunteers, the charity explained.

More than 164,700 children in 769 schools across the South West and Channel Islands took part in the programme in 2025 and 2026, it added.

NSPCC schools coordinator Phillipa Crozier said the charity was "really keen to find some new volunteers to join our fantastic team here in Jersey to help protect children from abuse".

"Our volunteers say that they find being involved with the programme really rewarding and it is a great way to meet new people and develop new skills," she added.

The charity said to be a volunteer, islanders needed to be "passionate about helping young people and children" and have "great communication skills".

It added no previous experience of working with children was necessary and training and support would be provided.
