Vehicle fire on M25 leads to traffic tailbacks

A car fire on the M25 in Surrey on Monday morning has caused six-mile traffic queues into the afternoon.

The incident took place between junctions J10 (Cobham) and J11 (Chertsey), and has led to long delays of nearly 45 minutes on the approach, according to Highways England.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said it was alerted at 10:50 BST and sent three fire engines to the scene.

Highways England said all lanes have since reopened, but warned of congestion.

A spokesperson for SFRS said: "The fire was tackled and crews left the scene around 11:25."
