Man admits rape attempt on Bakerloo line train

A man has admitted trying to rape a woman on a London Underground train.

British Transport Police detectives previously said the woman was on her own on a Bakerloo Line train between Waterloo and Lambeth North in central London at around 23:40 BST on 11 July when she was approached.

The attacker exposed himself before dragging her to the floor and trying to rape her in the carriage, officers said. She fought back and fled the train at Lambeth North before alerting station staff, while he got off at Elephant and Castle, the next stop.

Vincent Saxon, 54, pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted rape when he appeared at Inner London Crown Court on Thursday.

Judge Vanessa Baraitser told Saxon, of no fixed address, he would be remanded in custody and sentenced at the same court on 30 October.

Additional information for psychiatric and probation reports were also ordered.
