Plan for 70 new homes on edge of town
GooglePlans have been lodged for dozens of new homes on the edge of a town in Nottinghamshire.
Up to 70 houses would be built on land just off the junction of Hucknall Lane and Nottingham Road, on the southern edge of Hucknall, if the application by the Mellors Group is approved by Ashfield District Council.
The site is classified as a brownfield area, currently with areas of paving, concrete and asphalt and has been used as a construction compound, for car boot sales and circuses.
In planning documents, Mellors Group said the plan "would make efficient use of an underutilised site" at an "urban-edge location", while also making a "meaningful contribution" towards housing targets in the area.
The developer is also proposing at least 40% of the homes provided would be classed as "affordable", reports the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
A watercourse runs alongside the site's northern boundary, which connects to the River Leen, where plans say the site "partially" lies within flood zones one, two, and three.
But the application said the homes would be built away from the flood risk.
The council stated it would decide on the plans at a later stage.
