Night time road resurfacing to be carried out
Getty ImagesTwo weeks of overnight road resurfacing is due to start in Wolverhampton next month.
The city council said it would be working on the areas around Ring Road St George's and Chapel Ash island as part of a five year, £50m road improvement scheme.
The work is due to get underway on 2 July, starting at Ring Road St Georges, from its junction with Bilston Road, to its junction with Birmingham Road and Snow Hill.
Bhupinder Gakhal, the councillor responsible for transport, said: "Focusing on this preventative approach will mean we can steadily improve the standard of our roads and reduce the number of urgent pothole repairs needed."
He also said the authority had more than 480 miles of roads to look after, so was carrying out resurfacing "where it can have the greatest impact".
The council said that by working overnight it hoped to reduce the impact on motorists.
The roads around Ring Road St Georges will be closed between 19:00 BST and 05:00 BST from 2 to 8 July.
Chapel Ash island will be temporarily closed at the same times between 9 and 15 July.
The council said all work would depend on the weather, and signed diversions would be in place.
