Cyclist dies following hit-and-run
GoogleA cyclist has died after a crash with a car which failed to stop in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police said it happened on Heath Way, Hodge Hill, last Sunday and the 29-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with critical injuries but later died.
A vehicle suspected of being involved was seized and will now be examined, the force said.
They added that officers would like to speak to anyone with information and who might have seen a black Estate-type car which failed to stop at the scene at about 19:45 BST on the day, which was last seen driving towards Coleshill Road.
Det Sgt Adam Alcock, from the force's serious collision investigation unit, said specialist officers were supporting the man's family.
"Collisions on the road have devastating consequences and my priority is to get answers for his family," he said.
"I know from CCTV that there were other cars and witnesses at the location at the time of the collision and I would appeal for those people to make contact with us."
