Permission is being sought for fields on the outskirts of Littlethorpe

A 150-home plan which has received dozens of objections is set to be approved by officials.

Davidsons Developments Limited has put forward the application for outline planning permission on two fields to the east of Holt Way and to the south of Warwick Road, Littlethorpe.

The application is due to be discussed at Blaby District Council's (BDC) Planning Committee meeting on Thursday.

It has been recommended for approval amid objections lodged by Narborough Parish Council and 46 members of the public.

'Lack of facilities'

The total size of the site is 8.75 hectares adjoining the eastern edge of the small village – the equivalent of more than 12 full-size football pitches.

Plans say the area comprises one narrow farm field to the north and a much larger field to the south.

In objection to the plans, Narborough Parish Council said there was a "lack of local facilities" and the distance to access facilities in Narborough was "not, as suggested, an easy walk and will generate more short car trips".

The parish council set out six further areas of concern, including fears of an increase in traffic which, it said, should be assessed with the cumulative impacts of other proposed and approved developments, "given that Leicestershire County Council have already acknowledged that congestion at the level crossing will in the next few years become critical and tail back on to the B4114 at peak times".

Objections from the public included issues around flooding, noting that the village has been cut off in recent flood events.

Other objection areas included sewage and drainage issues, concerns about increased traffic and congestion in Littlethorpe, local road infrastructure, and concerns regarding traffic at the access points in and out of the village.

Worries were also raised regarding emergency vehicle access along Holt Way.

Plans indicate a mix of two, three, four and five-bed homes with documents showing that 33% of the properties would be two-bed, 39% three-bed, 22% four-bed and 6% five-bed.
