Woman arrested after passenger dies in car crash

A 19-year-old woman has been arrested after a car hit a tree, killing one of the passengers.

Thames Valley Police said the collision happened at about 02:20 BST on Thursday in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

A red Ford Fiesta left the road near the junction of Horns Lane and Lane End Road.

One of the four occupants, a woman in her late teens, died at the scene.

The victim's next of kin have been informed and are being offered support by specially trained officers.

Three other people in the car suffered minor injuries, and one remains in hospital, police said.

A woman from High Wycombe, aged 19, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Sgt Richard Martin of the Roads Policing Unit said: "Firstly, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this extremely difficult time.

"We are appealing for anyone with information or witnesses who may have been at the scene and have not yet spoken to us, to please get in touch."
