A total of nine sites have been put forward for affordable housing to date

Two more sites have been put forward for affordable housing.

Springhust House in Forest and land at Sandy Hook, L'Islet have been proposed for the preliminary list of preferred sites by the Development and Planning Authority (DPA).

The independent planning inspector's report on proposed changes to the Island Development Plan said there was not enough land for affordable housing to be built on and advised six more sites be allocated, in addition to the seven which have already been recommended.

DPA president Deputy Neil Inder said it had considered areas where the inspector had offered an alternative view "to make sure that there are back ups in case some sites don't come forward".

The DPA said the planning inspector's report had showed agreement in other areas, including proposals for employment land and not allocating any new sites for private market housing.

The DPA is expected to review the progress of the nine sites in a year's time and deallocate any sites which were not moving forward, with other sites identified as available and appropriate to be taken forward as replacements.
