Wildfire smoke warning issued for A3 drivers
Surrey Fire and Rescue ServiceDrivers on the A3 in Surrey have been urged to take extra care as smoke from a wildfire at a nearby farm reduces visibility on the road.
Surrey Fire and Rescue Service said at 16:00 BST on Saturday it was called to the blaze at Beechwood Farm in Shackleford and 10 of its vehicles were at the scene.
The fire was visible to drivers on both sides of the A3 and people were told to keep their windows closed when driving past, the fire service said.
The blaze was put out, but crews remained at the scene on Saturday afternoon to monitor the area.
"If you are travelling through the area and still see smoke, please be reassured that this is residual smoke from the incident as the crew damps down the affected area," the fire service said.
