Repairs have started on a Shropshire youth centre which closed after a lorry crashed into it more than a year ago.

The HGV crashed into parked vehicles, a railway bridge and the youth club building in Ludlow in the early hours of 28 April 2025.

The damage affected systems including the fire alarm and electrical distribution, and community and family hub services held there had to be moved.

Shropshire Council, which owns the building, said the repairs were due to be completed in August.

"Alongside the repair work we're working closely with local councillors, partners and service providers, to the ensure that the future use of the building reflects the needs of the Ludlow community," it said in a statement.

"The council's Property Services Group (PSG) is managing the repairs and working closely with the contractors to ensure the building is restored safely and as quickly as possible."
