Searches for a dangerous fugitive are continuing more than two weeks after he absconded from an open prison.

Sonny Loveridge, 28, failed to return to HMP Hollesley Bay after being let out on temporary release on 20 May, Suffolk Police said.

He is serving a sentence of 11 years and eight months for attempted robbery and causing death by dangerous driving in Manea, Cambridgeshire, in October 2023.

Members of the public have been urged not to approach Loveridge but to contact police immediately.

He is described as white, of medium build and about 5ft 9ins (175cm) tall.

When Loveridge was sentenced in November 2024, he was described by Det Con Pete Wise as a "dangerous individual".

The would-be robber tried to steal money from One Stop in Park Lane, Manea, on 22 October 2023, but the shopkeeper managed to prevent him accessing the tills.

After leaving empty-handed, Loveridge crashed his car into a ditch near Chatteris, killing his 36-year-old accomplice, John Hayden.

He was later jailed at Peterborough Crown Court.
