A new exhibition celebrating Jersey's rich food and farming heritage is set to open on Saturday.

'Field to Fork: the story of Jersey farming and food' will be open daily to the public at Hamptonne Country Life Museum.

It is the first major exhibition to be housed in the new La Tchèrquéthie Joan Stevens museum building at Hamptonne and aims to show visitors how Jersey farmers use local knowledge and tradition to farm sustainably.

Jersey Heritage exhibitions curator Lucy Layton said it was "thought-provoking" and encourages people to "engage with the countryside and to think about seasonal and sustainable food production in Jersey".

She added: "Many of us have lost the connection between the food we buy and the growers who produce it. Field to Fork links these together and highlights the challenges facing our local farmers and fishers.

"It asks: how can we, as consumers, support them to produce our food in a sustainable way? And why is it important to keep Jersey's farming traditions alive?"
