Man found with serious injuries in early hours

A man is being treated in hospital after he was found with serious injuries in the early hours.

Officers were called to Great Western Way, between Sainsbury's and Hunderton Bridge, in Hereford at about 05:00 BST, said West Mercia Police.

"The man was taken to hospital where his condition is described as life-threatening and we are keeping an open mind around how his injuries were caused," the force added.

Officers have appealed for anyone who witnessed anything in the location between 02:30 and 05:30 or who has other information to call them on 101.

"An investigation is ongoing as to how the man sustained his injuries which are currently unexplained," said Det Ch Insp Edward Slough.

Officers said there would be an increased police presence in the area over the next 24 hours as their inquiries continued.

"At this time, we are keeping an open mind as to how the man sustained his injuries, but we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public," Slough added.
