Man charged with murder over death of mother

A son has appeared in court accused of murdering his mother.

James Richardson, 39, appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court earlier charged with the murder of Janet Richardson.

Mrs Richardson sustained significant injuries during an alleged incident at her home in Yatton, North Somerset, in April 2021. She died in January 2024 at the age of 72.

Richardson, of no fixed abode, was remanded into custody and ordered to appear at Bristol Crown Court on Thursday.
