Body found in search for teenager in Highland loch

A body has been recovered from a remote loch in the Highlands during a search for a teenager in the water.

Emergency services were called to Lochindorb near Grantown-on-Spey just after 17:00 on Thursday after reports that a 17-year old boy had got into difficulty

Police Scotland said the body was found at around 11:25 on Friday and the boy's family had been informed.

In a separate incident, a body was recovered from the River Nith in Dumfries on after reports of an 18-year-old male in the water.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), Police Scotland and a HM Coastguard ground crew and a helicopter were involved in the Highland search.

Police said the body was recovered from Lochindorb on Friday morning

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of a 17-year-old male youth reported in difficulty in the water around 5pm on Thursday, 30 April, are aware.

"The death is not believed to be suspicious and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."

Meanwhile, in Dumfries, emergency teams were called out at about 18:50 on Thursday to a person in the River Nith near the Kingholm Road area of the town.

The body of an 18-year-old man was recovered from the water.

Police Scotland said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
