A burst water pipe has left people without water in part of Derbyshire.

Severn Trent said homes in the DE56 area of Belper were experiencing water supply problems including no supply, "poor pressure" and "discoloured water".

Footage has shown water spurting into the air near the village of Nether Heage.

A spokesperson for the water company said: "Our teams are working hard to get your water flowing again, but the repair is taking us a little longer than we first anticipated."

Michelle Gascoigne, 54, of Nether Heage, said: "Another villager spotted the fountain, which we have now called it, at about 08:00."

Gascoigne said her home had not had any problems with water supply, but added: "It was a surprise to see something like that local to us because nothing happens in Nether Heage."
