Ismail Hussain was found guilty of two counts of raping a young man in Huddersfield

A "predatory" rapist who attacked a man in a town centre alleyway has been jailed for 15 years.

West Yorkshire Police said Ismail Hussain, 28, targeted his victim before sexually assaulting him in the early hours of the morning in the New Street area of Huddersfield on 2 August.

Hussain, of no fixed address, was found guilty of two counts of rape after a trial.

He was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court to 15 years in jail, and told he would serve an additional eight years on licence following his release.

Police said Hussain was identified within hours of the offence, and arrested a day later thanks to CCTV surveillance.

Det Insp Jenny Haigh said: "We welcome the sentencing of Hussain at court for what was dreadful and predatory sexual offending.

"He targeted his victim by approaching him and then subjecting him to the very serious offences he has now been convicted of carrying out.

"I want to praise the huge courage of the victim in both reporting this appalling offence and then supporting a prosecution through the courts.

"We fully appreciate just how difficult it can be to disclose being a victim of sexual offending but can promise we do all we can to support victims who come forwards."

Along with his jail sentence, Hussain has also been barred from working with children and vulnerable adults.
