A38 partly reopens after motorcyclist dies in crash

A motorcyclist in his 20s has died following a crash which closed the A38.

Devon and Cornwall Police shut the road in both directions near Lee Mill, Devon, after it received reports of a crash involving two cars and a motorcycle at about 10:00 BST.

The force said the motorcycle rider, from Plymouth, was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin had been informed.

The Plymouth-bound carriageway reopened to traffic shortly after 17:30 BST. Anyone with information or who has dashcam footage of the crash has been asked to contact police.

National Highways said a diversion had been set up while the road closure was in place.

Police said the incident was ongoing and drivers were asked to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: "We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, an air ambulance, an operations officer and a specialist paramedic to the scene."
