A man, aged in his 20s, died following the stabbing on Saturday

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man, aged in his 20s, died following a stabbing.

Thames Valley Police said it received multiple reports that a man had been stabbed in an alley between Cutbush Lane and Gypsy Lane in Lower Earley, Reading, Berkshire, about 16:25 BST on Saturday.

The man was taken to hospital where he later died, said the force. His next of kin have been informed.

The arrested teenager, from Reading, remains in police custody and a scene watch was in place on Sunday, it added.

Det Insp Nick Hind said: ''We understand this murder will be of concern to the community but we do not believe there is any threat to the wider public.

"We are in the early stages of a complex investigation but we are following several lines of inquiry to establish the full circumstances around the murder.''
