Police said a 30-year-old man was arrested on Saturday suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm after a police officer was hit by a car in Oakham.

Leicestershire Police said he was struck as officers investigated an illegally parked Honda CR-V in High Street at 15:10 GMT on 26 January.

After refusing to engage with officers, the man drove at one of them, the force said, causing the officer to hit the bonnet and land on the pavement, suffering minor cuts and grazes.

After a five-month investigation, the force made the arrest on Saturday morning, and the suspect remains in custody.
