Man bailed over rape of girl,14, in wooded area

A man arrested after a 14-year-old girl reported she was raped in a wooded area near a roundabout has been released on police bail.

The girl reported she was attacked in an area of trees off the Wide Lane roundabout, near Mansbridge Road, in Swaythling, Southampton, shortly before 15:10 BST on Sunday by a man she did not know.

Hampshire police said a 34-year-old man, from Southampton, arrested on suspicion of rape had been bailed while inquiries continue.

The force said they were supporting the girl and her family and asked anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
