Three people have been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods in a car park.

Cambridgeshire Police said officers went to Dickens Street, Eastfield, Peterborough, on Sunday, 5 April, following a report that it was being used to sell stolen items.

The force found a man in his 30s carrying about 20 bottles of olive oil, numerous boxes of chocolates and kitchen items.

After carrying out further searches, officers said they found more goods in a car and at a house. A woman in her 30s and a teenage boy were also arrested.

On the same day, traffic officers stopped a car in nearby Crawthorne Road after they received information that it could be linked to thefts in other counties.

A 33-year-old man and woman were arrested after suspected stolen goods were found in the vehicle.

Officers also visited the Wellington Street car boot sale, where they gave stall holders advice about the items they were selling, but no arrests or goods were seized there.

The force said the action was taken to tackle retail crime and the sales of stolen goods.

"Our patrols of these areas and taking action through arrests and seizing goods will continue when we can", it added.
