A man has pleaded not guilty to murder following a fatal stabbing.

Kenneth Fishwick, 53, denied the charge when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court.

He is accused of murdering 51-year-old Dean Fishwick, who died in hospital after being found with stab wounds at a property in Thames Road in Peterlee, County Durham, on 23 September.

Fishwick was remanded in custody ahead of a further court date in January. A trial date was set for 12 April next year.

At the time, Durham Police said Dean Fishwick was found to have suffered stab wounds.

The force previously said a 73-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder had been bailed, while a 77-year-old man previously arrested for the same offence had been released under investigation.
