Detectorists asked to track down late mum's ring
ContributedDetectorists are being asked to help a man who lost his late mother's ring while on a walk in her memory.
Taz Brotherton, from Manningtree, Essex, was visiting one of his mum Sally's favourite places, Pin Mill in Suffolk, with his four brothers to watch the sunrise about two weeks ago.
The 38-year-old said he was "totally devastated" when he realised the ring was lost.
Brotherton said he had worn the ring every day since she gave it to him before her death three months ago.
He is a professional photographer and had filmed the walk for posterity, which meant he had narrowed down the stretch of path where it must have come off his finger.
Contributed"I think there's a pretty high chance we can find it. You've got to have hope, right?" he added.
He put out an appeal on social media for metal detectorists to come forward and some have already got to work.
"There's a team of them down there in the wind and rain searching, which is crazy. I don't even know these guys, so there's a lot of love out there," he said.
"I've always believed this, there's more good people in this world than bad."
ContributedSally, who died at the age of 72 unexpectedly, had lived in Manningtree but had family ties to nearby Ipswich.
Hare's Creek at Shotley was another of her favourite spots to visit and the family planned to spread her ashes there.
