A man needed hospital treatment after being sprayed in the face with suspected barbecue lighter fluid during a Post Office robbery.

It happened just before 20:00 BST on Sunday on Ullswater Road in Lancaster, Lancashire Police said.

Two men, wearing black clothes and balaclavas, stole "a significant amount of cash from the safe", the force said.

The victim, who is in his 50s, has since been discharged, with his injuries not thought to be serious.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage to contact them.

"As this time we don't believe there to be any threat to the wider public," a spokesman said.
