Two arrests as man dies following motorbike crash

A 21-year-old man has died nearly a week after being seriously injured in a crash involving two motorbikes.

Thames Valley Police said officers were called to the collision on Vastern Road in Reading at about 02:15 BST on 26 September. It said one of the bikes was believed to have a rider and a passenger.

The injured man, from the Berkshire town, died in hospital on Friday, said the force. His next of kin have been informed.

Two men - a 21-year-old from Reading and a 20-year-old from Oxford - were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and released on bail, it said.

The 21-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle when above the alcohol limit, driving whilst disqualified, aggravated vehicle taking and theft of motor vehicle.

The 20-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and theft of motor vehicle, failing to stop and failing to report an accident.

Sgt Matt Cadmore urged any potential witnesses to the crash to contact the force.

He particularly appealed to anyone on Vastern Road, Caversham Road, Napier Road, Forbury Road, Kenavon Drive, Queens Road, Kings Road a the time of the crash.
