County could star in new series of Slow Horses

Suffolk could take centre stage in the new series of an award-winning spy drama after it was revealed that some scenes were shot in the county.

Slow Horses, which stars Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden, has returned on Apple TV for its sixth series, having proved incredibly popular with audiences since first airing in 2022.

Screen Suffolk, which facilitates the filming of productions in the county, said locations included the Orwell Bridge, Rendlesham and a Babergh village.

Rachel Aldridge, operations and business development manager for Screen Suffolk, who is a huge fan of the show, said she was "so thrilled and so excited" to hopefully see the county on screen.

"We were delighted they came to Suffolk and we're hoping it's going to be really identifiable, it's very exciting," she said.

"We don't actually know what aspects of the filming are going to be featured because we haven't seen the series.

"But fingers crossed we'll see a lot of Suffolk."

Aldridge said since starting Screen Suffolk, the team has supported 1400 filming days which has "brought an estimated £20m into the Suffolk economy".

The production also provided paid jobs as location marshals, for 14 local people.

Among them was Tracey Powiesnik who had previously taken part in the free Set Ready course, which provides training for people who want to enter the film and TV industry. The course is provided by Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils and Screen Suffolk.

Powiesnik, who has been invited back for series seven of the show, said: "With a son building a career in the film industry in LA, it felt like the perfect opportunity to gain some first-hand insight into his world.

"I knew it was an opportunity not to be missed - it's fast-paced, varied and genuinely fascinating. I loved every minute."
