Murder accused charged with emergency worker assault
Family photoA man accused of murdering a 74-year-old woman found at a house in Portsmouth has also been charged with assaulting an emergency worker.
Police found the body of Carole Langley in Cyprus Road on Monday morning after attending a report of a "domestic incident".
Scott Langley, 48, of St Pauls Road in Southsea, appeared at a preliminary hearing at Winchester Crown Court on Friday.
The judge told him his case was likely to be returned to Portsmouth Crown Court and he would remain in custody until his next appearance later this year.
Carole Langley's family said she would be "sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her", in a statement issued through Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police.
"Her love, kindness and beautiful memories will live on in all of us," the statement continued.
It also thanked people for their condolence messages and requested their privacy be respected.
