The family of a teenager who died in a car crash have paid tribute to her as an "outgoing young girl, full of life".

Summer, 17, was a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa which left the road and crashed into a tree in Sutton Lane, Sutton Scarsdale, Derbyshire, on 19 April.

Her father, Rob, said she was nicknamed Twinkle because she lit up their day.

A statement released via police said her death had "left a cataclysmic hole in her whole family's life".

The 19-year-old driver had minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Summer's mum Beckie said: "Summer was an outgoing young girl, full of life, bubbly, very chatty and loved being the centre of attention.

"She was very motivated and knew where she wanted to go in life.

"Summer had just started working at McDonald's which she was excited about, and was also at college where she studied construction.

"Her hobbies included eating out as she loved her food, going out with her friends and looking after her pets.

"She was just enjoying living life to the fullest as a 17 year old."

Summer's dad Rob said: "Her grandad doted on Summer, giving her the name Twinkle, due to her lighting up his day when he spent time with her.

"He would always struggle to say no to her if she needed anything.

"We are very proud to have Summer as our daughter and granddaughter.

"Summer's death has left a cataclysmic hole in her whole family's life and everyone who knew Summer."
