Resort revs up for vintage beach race
Getty ImagesA festival featuring vintage vehicles racing along a beach is returning.
Race the Waves, which is taking place in Bridlington, is a tribute to the past when beaches in Yorkshire were used for land speed record attempts.
It features an array of vintage European and American vehicles and motorcycles racing along a 200-yard stretch.
The internationally recognised event takes place from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 September and is free to attend.
Attractions will also include a static auto-show, organised by Bridlington Lions, along with a selection of refreshment and community-run stalls.
It has been organised by Backfire, in partnership with East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Visit East Yorkshire team.
Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, said the event would show off "Bridlington's stunning coastline".

The resort is also hosting the family-friendly WSW Steampunk Emporium in the Royal Hall over the same weekend, which will include entertainment, workshops and stalls.
