Part of a busy Hull road will be closed for about a month as work continues to upgrade a congested roundabout, officials have said.

From Tuesday, traffic - including buses - wishing to travel eastbound on Wawne Road from the Bude Road/Wawne Road roundabout will be diverted. Westbound traffic will not be affected.

Hull City Council said the roadworks were needed to install new drainage and a new island. Resurfacing will also take place, it added.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo said the works would improve traffic flow once completed.

Drivers will be diverted via Holwell Road and Honiton Road, before rejoining Wawne Road.

Once the new closure is in place, the current northbound diversion will be lifted, the council said.
