A free cooking course to help parents prepare nutritious and healthy meals for their families is taking place in Guernsey.

The St Martin's Community Centre Partners and the Health Improvement Commission said the initiative would be led by a professional chef providing tips and skills to provide "accessible, supportive" advice.

It said three sessions would take place at the community centre on 11, 18 and 25 June between 13:30 and 14:30 BST.

Rebecca Silk, operations manager at St Martin's Community Centre, said cooking in a group could make "the experience more enjoyable and supportive".

She said: "Preparing healthy meals for families can be a daily challenge not just deciding what to cook, but knowing how to make it.

"These courses will be incredibly valuable, giving parents the opportunity to go home with a meal ready for that evening which is really exciting."

People who want to sign up can do so by contacting St Martin's Community Centre on email or calling 01481 231196.
