Fire service tackles flooding caused by heavy rain in Derry

The fire service attended after heavy rain caused flooding in parts of Londonderry.

The Foyle Road is currently closed due to flooding from the Foyleside RBT to Craigavon Bridge Lower Deck.

Heavy, torrential and thundery downpours had been forecast to break out across parts of Northern Ireland through Saturday.

They followed a recent dry and warm spell that saw temperatures climbing well above average for the time of year.

The Foyle Road has been impacted by flooding after heavy rain in the past.

City of Derry Jazz Festival asked that those attending the event find alternative routes where possible.

The Department for Infrastructure has asked that drivers find an alternative route for their journey.
