Jamie Fulford is charged with murder and causing or allowing harm or death to a five-week-old child

A man has denied murdering a five-week-old baby almost four years ago.

Jamie Fulford, of Tournament Road in Salisbury, Wiltshire, is charged with murder and causing or allowing harm or death to a child. The 26-year-old pleaded not guilty to both charges at Winchester Crown Court earlier.

Wiltshire Police said the charges related to the death of baby Jaxon, who died eight days after being taken to hospital with serious injuries in September 2022.

Jaxon's mother, Sophie Egerton, 22, also of Tournament Road, did not enter a plea for the charge of causing or allowing the death or harm of a child. Both defendants were granted bail.

A previous hearing at Salisbury Magistrates' Court heard that Fulford had continued to live with his mother and Egerton after Jaxon's death.

The judge said Fulford must live at his given address in Cornwall, while Egerton must live at hers in Salisbury.

Egerton is due to appear in court on 22 September to enter pleas, while a provisional trial date was set for January 2027.
