Two police officers have been recognised for their bravery and quick decision-making after disarming an attacker during a stabbing.

In May 2025, PC Sam Clover and PC Jacob Edwards were called to an ongoing domestic incident at a property where someone was being stabbed.

Despite being unarmed and without protective equipment, they forced their way in to find a victim being struck in the head with a knife.

Norfolk Police Federation chairman Andy Symonds said: "They showed extreme bravery and are the best of us."

The pair saw individuals fleeing the property when they arrived and said the scene was chaotic and "blood-filled".

Despite this, Clover deployed PAVA spray while Edwards took control of the suspect's wrists and forced the knife from his hand and on to the floor. He was detained at the scene.

Edwards, who was a student officer at the time, was praised for his confidence and effectiveness.

Norfolk Police Chief Constable Paul Sanford said: "Faced with an immediate and life-threatening situation, they made a courageous decision to put themselves in harm's way to protect a victim.

"Their actions that morning were instinctive, decisive and selfless, and they undoubtedly prevented serious harm."

The two men have been nominated for the annual Police Federation Bravery Awards, ahead of the winners being announced next month.
