Major route to have speed cameras by end of year
Getty ImagesPlans are under way to install speed cameras on a major road between Keighley and North Yorkshire later this year.
Bradford Council was told work to install the cameras proposed for the A629 between Hard Ings in Keighley and Silsden was "progressing well".
Airedale Councillor Peter Kirk asked the council's Reform Executive when the cameras were likely to be installed and was told they remained on track for delivery later this year.
The road continues to Skipton in North Yorkshire, but only the section between Keighley and Silsden will have cameras. The section between Silsden and Skipton will be covered by mobile enforcement carried out by North Yorkshire Police.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), the council executive said: "The scheme is being introduced to improve compliance with speed limits along the route and will cover the section between Hard Ings Roundabout and Silsden Roundabout within West Yorkshire.
"Installation and testing are expected later this year, with the impact of the scheme reviewed after implementation to assess its effectiveness in improving road safety."
