Thames Valley Police has appealed for witnesses after the collision on Wednesday

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the death of a cyclist.

Thames Valley Police said a collision involving a red Seat and a cyclist on Aston Abbotts Road, between the villages of Weedon and Aston Abbotts, Buckinghamshire, occurred at about 08:10 BST on Wednesday.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, died at the scene, while the Seat driver stopped and has been assisting the police investigation.

The arrested man, aged 40, had been driving a black Ford Puma in the same direction as the Seat towards Aston Abbotts. He has since been released on bail.

Investigating officer Det Sgt Oliver Cahill-Smith said: "Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the cyclist who has very sadly died following this collision, and we continue to support them at this extremely difficult time."

The force appealed for witnesses and those with dashcam footage to contact them.
