Homes evacuated due to security alert

Properties in north Belfast have been evacuated due to an ongoing security alert in Rosapenna Parade.

It follows the search of a property during the early hours of Friday morning.

Cordons are in place and members of the public have been asked to avoid the Rosapenna Street and Cliftonville Road areas.

"Significant traffic disruption" to the Cliftonville Road area is expected, police said, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

The Ardoyne Community Centre has been opened for local residents.
