Woman arrested over Cheltenham assaults
GoogleA woman has been arrested in connection with a series of assaults in Cheltenham town centre which included a mother and her young child being grabbed and a man punched in the face.
Gloucestershire Police said the incidents on Monday afternoon also included an elderly woman pushed over and a pair of glasses stolen.
A woman in her 30s, from Winchcombe, has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in connection with the incidents, which took place between 13:00 and 16:00 BST. She remains in police custody.
Witnesses are being encouraged to contact police.
Police said a woman had walked down High Street and grabbed a woman and her young child outside Poundland at around 13:10 BST before pushing over an elderly woman outside a McDonald's restaurant.
She is also believed to have kicked a man and taken someone's glasses before walking towards Marks and Spencer.
The woman then was reported to have then punched a man in the face twice at the junction of Bath Road and Cedar Court Road.
Investigating officers said they were looking to speak to three victims of the alleged assaults whose identities remain unknown - a jogger who was pushed over; a man who was kicked and a person who potentially had their glasses taken.
