Rail lines reopen after points failure disruption
WMCARail lines have reopened after a points failure between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton resulted in hours of delays and cancellations.
National Rail said disruption was still expected to last until the end of Thursday, with the fault affecting West Midlands Railway and Transport for Wales services.
In an update at about 19:00 BST, a spokesperson said trains running between the two stations may still be delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised whilst services recovered.
Rail replacement buses in both directions have been organised between Shrewsbury, Wellington, Telford Central and Wolverhampton.
The replacement shuttle will run every hour until 21:30, with a return service from Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury going every hour until 20:45, National Rail said.
Train tickets can be used on National Express West Midlands Buses between Birmingham, Walsall and Wolverhampton, including Willenhall and Darlaston.
The fault affected West Midlands Railway services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street.
Transport for Wales services between Aberystwyth and Birmingham International, calling at Holyhead, Chester, and Crewe, and also between Aberystwyth and Birmingham New Street were also impacted.
