Investigation as three birds shot dead near canal
Google MapsThree birds including a baby swan have been shot near a canal in Wolverhampton.
An RSPCA investigation is under way after two mallards and the swan were found dead near Anchor Lane in Bilston.
A passer-by made the discovery and the charity believes the incident happened some time between 20:00 BST on Wednesday and 07:00 BST on Thursday.
"These poor birds appear to have been deliberately targeted," said animal rescue officer Tracy Myles.
"It is extremely upsetting to think that someone may have caused them such needless suffering."
The charity urged anyone who may have witnessed the alleged attack to make contact, adding "even the smallest piece of information could be vital".
Myles said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area [and] who may have seen anything suspicious or who may have information about those responsible."
