A 17-year-old girl died and four other people were injured when a car hit a tree in Derbyshire.

Police said the Vauxhall Corsa crashed in Sutton Lane, Sutton Scarsdale, at about 23:00 BST on Sunday.

The girl, who was a passenger, died at the scene and two other passengers suffered serious injuries. The 19-year-old driver and a fourth passenger had minor injuries.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.

Derbyshire Police has appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage of the red Corsa.
